Jordan Almonds
|
| The best California Jordan Almonds with a thin candy coating. For those of you planning a wedding, there are about 150 to 170 nuts in each pound. Jordan Almonds make great wedding favors. Wrap a cluster in tulle tied with ribbon, pack a few in boxes (made of sugar, straw, paper, metal, or plastic), stuff some in decorative bags, or pour a handful into champagne glasses or glass bowls. Attach a little card with a note explaining the almonds' meaning. Consider using this Jordan Almonds poem:
Five sugared almonds for each guest to eat,
To remind us that life is both bitter and sweet.
Five wishes for the new husband and wife;
Health, wealth, happiness, children, and a long life!
Tradition suggests using five Jordan Almonds for each guest. One to signify health, one for wealth, one for longevity, one for fertility and one for happiness. Price listed is per pound.

About Us
Our story began in 1968 when Fred and Evelyn Ioerger opened their first Nut Hut stores in Houston. After growing to five stores, they decided to begin doing their own roasting, and the Fredlyn Nut Company was created. Their daughter, Betty, has managed the business since 1983. Although we have one central location now, many people still remember us as the original Nut Hut!
We still do things much the same way they were done back in the seventies, with the exception of the internet. Last year we replaced the original roasting equipment after 39 years. A little bigger, but the same process. Since our inception back in the seventies, so much has changed within the nut industry. California is now harvesting over a billion pounds a year of almonds, and so much has been learned about the nutritional value of nuts overall.
We eat nuts all the time! We call it "Quality Control".
